手指衛生の重要性、感染症対策は“体験”で学ぶ時代へ

株式会社白獅子では、岡山大学病院 感染症科・萩谷医師の監修のもと、医療現場や教育現場で活用できる感染症対策VRを開発・提供しています。

このVRコンテンツは、単なる衛生指導ツールではなく、現場の状況を“主観で”疑似体験し、正しい対処行動が自然と身につくよう設計された「体験型感染症対策教育プログラム」です。

■ 現場で求められていた“行動のトレーニング”

従来の「感染症対策研修」は、紙のマニュアルや講義形式が主流でした。しかし現場では、

• PPE（個人防護具）の着脱に自信がない

• 手順を知っていても“流れ”になると混乱する

• 感染症対応が心理的負担になっているといった課題が多く聞かれます。

  
  

感染症対策VRでは、医療現場の実情を踏まえ、

• 手袋やマスクの着脱ミスによる感染の広がり

• 汚染・非汚染ゾーンの判断

• 観察と応用力を必要とするケース別判断など、行動の「意味」と「習慣化」を体験的に学べる設計を取り入れています。

■ 札幌市内の公立病院でも導入が決定

現在、感染症対策VRは全国複数の医療機関・教育機関にて導入・検討が進んでおり、そのひとつとして、札幌市内の公立病院においても正式導入が決定いたしました（病院名は守秘義務により非公開）。

同院のマスコットキャラクター「しまりんさん」も、地域における親しまれる存在として知られています。

感染症対策は、日々の業務と並行して“当たり前”に行われなければなりません。VRは、その“当たり前”を身につけるための効果的な反復環境を提供します。

2024年9月6日、金沢大学附属病院 感染制御部主催「環境ワンヘルス研究会」にて、本VRコンテンツを用いた感染症対策に関するXR技術の活用アプローチについて講演を行います。

感染症は医療現場だけでなく、社会全体の“環境と健康”に関わる重要課題です。

白獅子では、XR技術を通じて、日常と医療、教育、自治体を橋渡しする感染症対策モデルの提案を続けてまいります。

Snowlion.Inc develops and provides infection control VR for use in medical and educational settings, supervised by Dr. Hagitani from the Department of Infectious Diseases at Okayama University Hospital.

This VR content is not merely a hygiene instruction tool, but an "experiential infection control education program" designed to allow users to "subjectively" experience real-world situations and naturally develop proper response behaviors. ▶ For more details, please see here.

Field-Required "Behavioral Training"

Traditional "infection control training" has primarily consisted of paper manuals and lecture formats. However, in the field, common challenges include:

• Lack of confidence in donning and doffing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)

• Confusion when following procedures in actual "workflow" situations

• Psychological burden associated with infection control responses

Our infection control VR addresses the realities of medical settings by incorporating:

• Infection spread due to errors in glove and mask removal

• Judgment of contaminated vs. non-contaminated zones

• Case-specific decisions requiring observation and applied skills

The design enables experiential learning of the "meaning" and "habituation" of behaviors.

Implementation Decided at Public Hospital in Sapporo

Currently, infection control VR is being implemented and considered at multiple medical and educational institutions nationwide. Among these, formal implementation has been decided at a public hospital in Sapporo (hospital name withheld due to confidentiality agreements).

The hospital's mascot character "Shimarin-san" is also known as a beloved presence in the local community.

Infection control must be performed "naturally" alongside daily duties. VR provides an effective repetitive environment for developing this "natural" behavior.

Scheduled Lecture at "Environmental One Health Research Meeting" Hosted by Kanazawa University Hospital Infection Control Department (September 6, 2024)

On September 6, 2024, we will deliver a lecture on XR technology applications for infection control using this VR content at the "Environmental One Health Research Meeting" hosted by the Infection Control Department of Kanazawa University Hospital.

Infectious diseases are important issues related to "environment and health" for society as a whole, not just medical settings.
