■ドラッグストアと災害・高齢者支援の可能性

先日、東京流通センターにて私たち白獅子は、ドラッグストア向け展示会にて、災害体験VRや高齢者支援VRコンテンツを出展いたしました。 会場では、製薬企業、医薬品卸、そして全国のドラッグストアチェーンの皆さまとの貴重な対話の機会を得ました。

そこで改めて感じたのは、「いま、ドラッグストアが果たすべき役割の変化」です。

◼ 変化するドラッグストアの機能

これまで、ドラッグストアは「安く・早く・手軽に薬や日用品を手に入れる」場所として発展してきました。

しかし近年では、地域密着型の健康支援拠点としての再定義が進みつつあります。

• 在宅医療や服薬支援

• 高齢者の見守り機能

• 健康相談の入り口としての活用

• 災害時の生活支援・物資供給拠点

こうした役割が、特に地方・郊外店舗求められる傾向にあります。

◼ 災害大国・日本における「地域の拠点」の意義

地震・豪雨・台風・津波、様々な災害が私たちが暮らすこ我が国では、いつどこで災害が起きても不思議ではありません。

その中で高齢者や要支援者を多く抱える地域では、避難支援や正しい情報提供が急務です。ドラッグストアはその地域の生活インフラとして、医療と日常の間に立つ貴重な存在です。

◼ 白獅子のVRコンテンツで支援できること

私たちが今回展示したのは、次の2つの体験型VRコンテンツです。

● 災害体験VR（地震・水害・火災など）

地域の実風景をCGで再現し、災害が起きた際に「どう行動すべきか」を学ぶVR体験。→ 特に防災訓練に参加しづらい高齢者や子どもでも、無理なく体験可能。

● 高齢者視界体験VR

白内障・緑内障・加齢黄斑変性など、高齢者特有の視覚障がいを模擬体験。→ 薬剤師やスタッフが、高齢者の見え方を体感し、対応の質を高める目的で活用可能。

これらは、地域防災意識の向上や高齢者接遇教育として、多くの自治体・福祉施設・医療現場で導入されています。 ● 感染症対策VR 高齢化社会において、感染症リスクへの備えは個人の健康管理だけでなく、地域全体の医療体制維持にも直結する重要なテーマです。特にCOVID-19をはじめとするパンデミック以降、医療現場では「知識だけでなく、現場感覚のある対応力」が求められるようになりました。

当社が開発した「感染症対策VR」は、岡山大学病院 感染制御部・萩谷医師の監修のもと開発された、実際の医療現場での対応や感染制御のプロセスをリアルかつ視覚的に体験できる教育コンテンツです。

展示会での接客スタッフの声

展示会を終えて：想像以上の手応えと新たな発見

先日の東京流通センターでのドラッグストア向け展示会、本当にありがとうございました！白獅子のブースで接客を担当した私たちスタッフから、当日の様子や印象的だった出来事をお伝えしたいと思います。

「こんなのを待っていた！」の声が続々

薬剤師様（東北地方のチェーン店）： 「高齢者視界体験VRを実際に体験してみて、本当に驚いた。普段、お客様に『文字が見えにくい』と言われても、正直なところ想像でしかなかった。このVRで白内障の見え方を体験したら、なぜお客様があの商品を手に取るのに時間がかかるのか、なぜ薬の説明書を何度も見返すのかが本当によく分かったた。スタッフ全員に体験させたい。」

店長様（関西地方のドラッグストア）： 「うちの店舗がある地域は過去に水害があったが、その時のことを思い出した。地域の防災意識向上に貢献できるなら、ぜひ導入を検討したい。お客様向けの集客イベントで使える、スタッフの防災教育にも活用できそう。」

印象的だった瞬間

会場で一番印象的だったのは、60代の店舗経営者の方が災害体験VRを体験された時のことでした。

最初は「VRなんて若い人のものでしょ」と少し距離を置いていらっしゃったのですが、実際に体験していただくと...

「これは本物みたいですね。こんなに真剣に避難のことを考えたのは初めてかもしれません。」

災害を疑似体験され、VRゴーグルを外された後、表情が一変していた。

そして「うちの地域の高齢者の方々にも、ぜひ体験してもらいたい」とお言葉をいただきました。

感染症対策VRへの反響も予想以上！

また、災害体験VRは元より、高齢者の視点体験以外にも、多くの関心を集めたのが感染症対策VRでした。

コロナ禍を経験したドラッグストア業界だからこそ、この分野への関心は高いと感じました。

薬剤師様「岡山大学病院の監修ということで、医学的な信頼性がある。スタッフの感染症対策教育は紙のマニュアルだけでは限界があると感じていた。これなら実践的な教育ができそう。」

「地域の拠点」としての新しい役割への共感

多くの方が口を揃えておっしゃっていたのが、「ドラッグストアの役割が変わってきている」ということでした。

チェーン本部販売担当者様： 「これからは単に商品を売るだけじゃダメ。地域の健康と安全を支える拠点として、何ができるかを考えないといけない。白獅子のVRコンテンツは、まさにその方向性と合致している。」

嬉しかった「技術への信頼」

私たちスタッフとして嬉しかったのは、VR技術そのものへの信頼の声でした。

「最新技術だけど、使う目的がしっかりしているから安心できる」

「単なる話題作りじゃなくて、本当に役立つ内容だと感じる」

「地域貢献という明確な目標があるから、導入を検討しやすい」

という、多くのお声をいただきました。

現場からの貴重なアドバイス

展示会では、商品説明をするだけでなく、現場の皆様から貴重なご意見もいただけました。

「高齢者の方でも簡単に操作できるような工夫があると良い」

「季節ごとの災害に特化したコンテンツがあれば使いやすい」

「短時間でも効果的な体験ができるプログラムがあると助かる」

これらのご意見は、今後の開発に活かしていきたいと思います！

Drugstores and the Potential for Disaster & Elderly Support

Recently, at the Tokyo Distribution Center, Snowlion.Inc exhibited disaster experience VR and elderly support VR content at a drugstore-focused exhibition. At the venue, we had valuable opportunities for dialogue with pharmaceutical companies, pharmaceutical wholesalers, and drugstore chains from across Japan.

What we felt anew was "the changing role that drugstores should play now."

Evolving Functions of Drugstores

Until now, drugstores have developed as places to "obtain medicines and daily necessities cheaply, quickly, and conveniently."

However, in recent years, redefinition as community-based health support hubs is progressing.

• Home medical care and medication support

• Elderly monitoring functions

• Use as an entry point for health consultations

• Life support and supply bases during disasters

These roles are particularly in demand at rural and suburban stores.

The Significance of "Regional Hubs" in Disaster-Prone Japan

In our country, where we live amidst various disasters such as earthquakes, heavy rains, typhoons, and tsunamis, disasters can occur anywhere at any time.

In areas with many elderly and people requiring support, evacuation assistance and proper information provision are urgent needs. Drugstores serve as valuable entities standing between medical care and daily life as regional living infrastructure.

What Snowlion.Inc's VR Content Can Support

We exhibited the following two experiential VR contents:

Disaster Experience VR (earthquakes, floods, fires, etc.)

VR experience that recreates actual regional landscapes with CG to learn "how to act" when disasters occur. → Particularly accessible for elderly people and children who find it difficult to participate in disaster drills.

Elderly Vision Experience VR

Simulated experience of visual impairments specific to elderly people, such as cataracts, glaucoma, and age-related macular degeneration. → Can be used for pharmacists and staff to experience how elderly people see and improve response quality.

These are being introduced at many local governments, welfare facilities, and medical sites for improving regional disaster prevention awareness and elderly customer service education.

Infection Control VR

In an aging society, preparedness for infectious disease risks is an important theme directly linked not only to individual health management but also to maintaining the medical system of the entire region. Particularly since the COVID-19 pandemic, medical sites require "response capabilities with field experience, not just knowledge."

Our "Infection Control VR" is educational content developed under the supervision of Dr. Hagitani from the Infection Control Department of Okayama University Hospital, allowing realistic and visual experience of actual medical site responses and infection control processes.

After the Exhibition: Response and Discoveries Beyond Expectations

Thank you so much for the drugstore exhibition at Tokyo Distribution Center! We, the staff who handled customer service at Snowlion.Inc's booth, would like to share the day's atmosphere and impressive events.

"This is what we've been waiting for!" - Voices Keep Coming

Pharmacist (Tohoku region chain store): "I was truly surprised after actually experiencing the elderly vision VR. Usually, when customers say 'the text is hard to see,' honestly it was only imagination. But after experiencing cataracts through this VR, I really understood why customers take time picking up products and why they look at medicine instructions repeatedly. I want all staff to experience this."

Store Manager (Kansai region drugstore): "The area where our store is located had flooding in the past, and it reminded me of that time. If we can contribute to improving regional disaster prevention awareness, I'd definitely like to consider implementation. It could be used for customer events and staff disaster prevention education."

Most Impressive Moment

The most impressive moment at the venue was when a store owner in his 60s experienced the disaster VR.

Initially, he kept some distance saying "VR is for young people," but after actually experiencing it...

"This feels real. This might be the first time I've thought so seriously about evacuation."

After experiencing the disaster simulation and removing the VR goggles, his expression completely changed.

He then said, "I'd definitely like the elderly people in our region to experience this too."

Response to Infection Control VR Also Exceeded Expectations!

Besides disaster experience VR and elderly perspective experience, infection control VR also attracted much attention.

Because the drugstore industry experienced COVID-19, interest in this field was high.

Pharmacist: "With supervision from Okayama University Hospital, there's medical reliability. I felt that staff infection control education has limitations with just paper manuals. This could provide practical education."

Empathy for New Roles as "Regional Hubs"

What many people unanimously said was that "the role of drugstores is changing."

Chain headquarters sales representative: "From now on, it's not enough to just sell products. We need to think about what we can do as a hub supporting regional health and safety. Snowlion.Inc's VR content aligns perfectly with that direction."

Happy "Trust in Technology"

What made us staff happy was voices of trust in VR technology itself.

"Latest technology, but reassuring because the purpose is solid" "Not just topic creation, but genuinely useful content" "Easy to consider implementation because there's a clear goal of community contribution"

We received many such voices.

Valuable Advice from the Field

At the exhibition, we not only explained products but also received valuable opinions from field professionals.

"It would be good to have features that elderly people can easily operate" "Content specialized for seasonal disasters would be easier to use" "Programs that provide effective experiences in short time would be helpful"

We want to utilize these opinions in future development!

About This Fall's Schedule

We've already received specific implementation consultations from multiple companies, and rental schedules from fall onward are filling up.

We've also received voices saying "I'm glad I consulted early," so we encourage those considering to contact us as soon as possible.

Finally: As Technology Rooted in Communities

What we felt anew through this exhibition was that VR technology is recognized not just as something "new" but as something "necessary" that helps solve regional issues.

By creating environments where people can learn about disaster prevention, elderly support, and infection control at familiar places like drugstores, we can contribute to the safety and security of entire regions. We staff will work hard toward realizing such a future!
